D.I.Y. Chanel Bag Dog Costume!

We made a D.I.Y (do it yourself) Chanel bag doggy costume! It's the perfect Halloween costume for your fashion pup! And it's going to be auctioned off at the Paws For the Cause event this Thursday night in Toronto. This event is going to be outta control woofin' cute! Paws For the Cause asked us to make a dog sweater and to walk in the runway show with our dog wearing our custom creation which supports the OSPCA (Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.) It is a really great cause! and 100% of the proceeds goes directly to the animals in need. We are total animal lovers, so this was something we just had to do! We thought it would be fun if we made a D.I.Y video which shows us making the dog costume step by step and it also includes our two favourite accessories, Cubby and a Chanel bag all rolled into one! But we wanted to make it look like Cubby and the Chanel bag were one entity! What would Karl think? Haha! He is a walking and barking Chanel bag! Hahah!
To buy tickets or donate for this Thursday October 28th night's event at 8pm at Red Bull 381 Projects located at 381 Queen St. W # 200 click here! We hope to see you there!

P.S Can everyone please vote for Cubby (to win a car) it sounds silly but he knows how to drive! CLICK HERE! Thanks a million!!!!

Karen Elson Singing

We went with a bunch of friends to El Mocambo in Toronto to see the amazing and super talented supermodel, Karen Elson sing from her new album, "The Ghost who Walks", and it was such an unbelievable night! Her music is sooooo cool, it has a country/rock/folk gothic sound! Everybody in the audience was completely mesmerized by her angelic voice. She also looked super fantastic (like always!) Her peach dress looked 1920's vintage, peach lipstick, porcelain skin, and red hair was the perfect combination of country/burlesque chic! On a funny note, last Christmas, we made a gingerbread Peace train and needed somebody to drive it. So we picked Karen! Hahaha! Check out the pics HERE! El Mocambo is such a small venue and it felt like Karen was serenading us all night! What a special night!xo Beckerman girls

Grand Canyon Video!

We finally put this video together from our trip to the Grand Canyon, and the Mojave desert. This was a really special trip for us because we not only saw the Grand Canyon but we saw hundered year old Joshua Trees. We lived above the Joshua Tree bar in New York for 5 years and always talked about seeing them one day. And our dream came true!! We saw the most breathtaking wild stallions, enormous crows, and had a big showdown with a cowboy! We went on the Bighorn Hummer Tour from Vegas to Arizona in a hummer with our guide Scott! And it was the most magnificent tour ever! Highly recommend it! We wanted to share this amazing experience with you! The music is by our good friends Puddin' Tang! xo Beckerman girls

Beckerman D.I.Y Heart Jean Shorts

Presenting The Beckerman Bite Plate D.I.Y (Do it Yourself) Heart jean shorts! Inspired by the Marc Jacobs Andy heart handbag! Watch our Step by Step Video on how to make these Heart Lovin' shorts! xo Beckerman Girls

Step 1: Get a pair of great, old jeans you want to cut into shorts. Also get four different colors of denim (Acid wash, light grey, sky blue, dark blue) for cutting out heart patches.

Step 2:Make two sizes of hearts (out of cardboard) and trace them onto the back of the colorful swatches of denim you are going to use for the hearts. Make sure you trace the hearts on the back of the denim. That way when you cut them out the pen is on the back of the hearts, and not on the front of them.

Step 3: Lay the multi-colored hearts on denim shorts and pin them in their desired places.(Pull out the pocket bags so they don't get pinned down)

Step 4: Sew the hearts down with your sewing machine in a "V" like formation while taking out the pins as you go. If you don't have a sewing machine you can use fabric glue instead. Just make sure you use a lot of it! Trim threads on front and inside!

Step 5: Decorate one back pocket with hearts! Its okay if you sew it down and the pocket doesn't open!

Step 6: Voila! You are done! YAY! (watch the video for more details!)

Beckerman Spring 2009 Lookbook and Video

Here is the new Beckerman Spring 2009 video directed by Caillianne Beckerman and starring Ciara Nugent. The music is by Puddin Tang! Check it out and turn up the music!

Beckerman’s “Shake Rattle and Roll” Spring/Summer 2009 Collection mixes elements of music, pin-up girls, and Doo-Wop to create a modern twist on a 1950’s aesthetic. We were inspired by “America’s endless summer” says Caillianne Beckerman, “and how Rock n’ Roll had a huge impact on American culture.”
The Beckerman’s mix pastel colored linens with loose shapes and colorful denim with a fitted strapless silhouette for a tougher, edgier take on Spring/Summer dressing. “This season is all about ‘pin-up chic,’” says Samantha Beckerman. Jumpers and loose dresses were created with details like plastic chains hanging on the pockets. Styles like ruffled plaid vests, seersucker multi-colored swing dresses, and the three layer vest dress, define the theme and bring it to life. “We love the architecture of the 1950’s motels,” exclaims Chloe Beckerman. “The plastic palm trees, the retro neon signs and the playful architecture of the doo-wop motels are iconic of the 1950s!”
The knitwear is offered in a piano key print and a cherry print, which are silk-screened on cardigans, vests and camisoles. The Beckerman’s were inspired by the All-American diners for their t-shirt diffusion line which consists of 14 different hand drawn images. The diffusion line is filled with images like food monsters, punk-burgers, french fries in bikinis and a quirky combo meal.
The Beckerman’s are renowned for their exclusive textiles which they illustrate and develop each season. This season, the “Music Note” textile was inspired by the jukebox. “We wanted our print to sing” says Caillianne. The print consists of music symbols and notes cut from a flower print and arranged in an all-over, tossed pattern.
This season, Beckerman offers two key accessories - a silk scarf and leather belt. The one-of-a-kind, hand drawn silk scarf has people dancing around as hot air balloons soar through the sky and is framed by piano keys.
The showpiece consists of hand knit multicolored panels of music notes built on a hoopla skirt! This collection will definitely make you want to “Shake, Rattle and Roll!”
