The Alexander McQueen Rug Company Party!

We went to the Alexander McQueen Rug company party which was held at the Avenue Road store to celebrate McQueen's rugs and pillows he designed for The Rug Company. It took him three years to design them with The Rug Company and this is technically McQueen's last collection. The McQueen rugs are sooo special and gorgeous because they are all handmade and made out of the finest wools, cashmere and silk yarns. They are couture rugs!

The gold and black rug (photographed below) with the dragon in the center is called the military brocade print and was a real standout. McQueen also designed a hummingbird print, a skull print and a feather print. We are holding the skull and hummingbird pillows below and are totally obsessed with them! The Rug company has also collaborated with a other designers like Vivienne Westwood, Marni, Alice Temperley, Paul Smith, Matthew Williamson, Diane Von Furstenberg and many more. They are also doing rugs with Giles Deacon that are coming out in the future...YES!! We also loved the Vivienne Westwood British flag pillow and the pillow with the patchwork house on it which was designed by a label called Committee. This is the first Rug party we have ever been to and it was really cool because all of the carpets were laying on top of each other and they had two big guys wearing white gloves grabbing a corner and pulling the rugs back slowly to see the next one underneath. These rugs are sooo gorgeous and like a piece of Art, we could never imagine walking on them with shoes on!

Backstage at the Greta Constantine Spring 2011 Fashion Show

Our friends Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong are the designers behind Greta Constantine and we just LOVE THEM! They showed their Spring 2011 runway show in an old Toronto loft and it was a huge success! We were backstage to take pictures of the models, makeup, hair and to find out the scoop on their newest collection! When we first went backstage, we freaked out when we saw Supermodel Coco Rocha! She is soooo amazing, and stunning! And she was gonna open and close the show! Yahoo!!!! We love how she is Canadian and supports all things Canadian... especially our boys, Greta Constantine!

Their collection was a mix of Angelic army girls who had a really soft side and a hard edge. Their wet and slicked back hair looked like they just swam through a training expedition and the beige see-thru gauze dresses were heavenly. It looked like the models were floating down the runway in them! We loved the be-jeweled shoes, the earthy tones as well as all of the draping and volume in the dresses!

The Look: A Crystal Ball + Jellyfish

Fun Fact: Martine from La Mer Collections just sent me this watch and I love love love it!!! It looks like a chain bracelet! I love how it wraps a bunch of times! It is actually 16" in length! I also just got this dress at the Fairfax flea market...kinda obsessed! I think the pattern kind of looks like a marble. Did you ever play marble's as a kid? I just read this crazy article in The New York Times how a two year old knows how to use her mom's iphone better than her mom! It's kinda crazy how our kids in the future probably won't know how to play with marbles!

God Save the Queen Party- The British Invasion!!

We had the best and I mean best time at The Bay party! It was seriously the best British Invasion party that has ever happened to Toronto! Giles Deacon, Erdem, Mark Fast, Nicholas Kirkwood, Marios Schwab, Charlotte Olympia, and Jonathan Saunders all came in to celebrate "The Room's" Anniversary! Lula Magazine did a pop up shop at the opening party! It's also Lula magazine's fifth Anniversary! The shop was so special because founder and Editor in Chief Leith Clark curated it. The shop included Rodarte's limited edition dresses and tee's, limited edition Erdem and Giles dresses and limited edition Miu Miu's sparkly heels. Leith got Miuccia Prada to bring them back and do a small run of them from the 2006 Collection because they are her all time favourite heels! We were swooning over them! And even the word "limited edition" makes all of us fashionistas go beserk!

So before the party, we had asked our amazing friend and vintage collector Carole Tanenbaum if she had anything amazing to wear to the British Invasion party and she said she had crowns!!! Our jaws dropped to the floor when we saw them! WE LOVE CROWNS!!! They are soooo British and the Queen would definitely approve. The crowns are by Robert Sorrell who lives in New York. He works on each jewel himself and only does a small production. Sorrell also does work for Cirque De Doleil and The Gay Annual Queen Coronation in NY. Sorrell also uses vintage stones in his crowns and that's why they are sooo special and vintage looking. We just knew we had to wear them! To top it off, we both hand painted British flags on our cheeks to show those Brit's how much we love em'! The crowns were such a hit at the party!

We had sooo much fun with Charolotte Olympia Dellal! How fabulous is her banana purse in the pic below! Her shoe line is sooo amazing! We also hung out with Giles and laughed A LOT!!! (Check out the last two pictures!) He is the BEST! We had soo much fun together! WE LOVE HIM! There...we said it! We loved goofing around with him! He is one of our most favourite designers of all time and we almost didn't let him leave Toronto! He was sooo excited when he saw our Mom wearing his spider dress! A bunch of our friends were also there and we had an insane time with them too! Just look at the pics below to see what insanity we were talking about! hahah! We love our boys!!! Dan Levy from MTV , Tommy Ton from Jak and Jil, and designer Jeremy Laing.. we all go to crazy town when together...hahaha! Thanks to all of the Brit's for coming to Toronto! Fun Fact: One of my favourite collections of all time was the Dries Van Noten Fall 2009 Collection. The blazer and pants that I'm wearing were styled together on the runway with an orange tshirt, I opted for yellow to give it a punch. Click here to see the obsessive and timeless collection. Dries was inspired by shades of Francis Bacon's paintings, shrimp pink, beige, mauve and ochre and the whole collection looks like a painter's palette.
PS. I went to the doctor today and he said my cast should be off in 2 weeks!!! 6 weeks down...Yahooo! Let the countdown BEGIN!
